Someone finally saw the light.
Let's start the new year by giving Kate Fagan, Sixers beat writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, an arousing standing ovation for deservingly ripping Eddie Jordan. You'll find a comment by your fav guido blogger there.
Sixers4guidos' few loyal readers will perhaps notice how the main points that Kate has in her article are the same ones I made in recapping last Sixers' loss at LA Clippers (read the post just below this).
Particularly:
Only three minutes of playing time for Rodney Carney, the guy who had sparked a win the day before.
(I might add that 2.30 of the three minutes he got were in garbage time...). And:
Not enough minutes for center Samuel Dalembert, whose defense delivered an early lead to the Sixers.
Again, it's not a matter of defending Carney and/or Dalembert, those two are just the latest examples of EXTREMELY bad coaching.
And it's not like it takes a rocket scientist, of course: everybody following the Sixers and having a minimum bball knowledge surely had noticed the same things, and since a long time.
Players performing well getting benched, or seeing their minutes reduced, have been a trademark in Eddie Jordan's first 32 games as Sixers' coach, just as the non-existent defense, the fact that Sixers are constantly being ourebounded etc etc. Brand, Holiday initially, Carney & Kapono occasionally, even Dalembert and Ivey (!) as of late.
While for yet-to-be-disclosed reasons, certain players get extended minutes reguardless: Green, also Young, to a lesser extent.
And, often, Jordan's explainations for his decisions are just as shocking as the decisions themselves: Kate Fagan underlines this well, also.
But the main (only?) point to judge Jordan could be this: he inherited a team that ended the season 41-41 and lost 2-4 to the Orlando Magic in the first round of the playoffs, right?
Ok, that team lost Andre Miller, substituted Reggie Evans with Jason Kapono, added Jrue Holiday, added Iverson (eight games so far, 3-5), basically "added" a healthy Elton Brand, and after thirty-two games in the sad Eastern Conference its record is 9-23 (.281) ??? Meaning on its way to finish at 23-59 (.280)... and nobody in the media is (was) questioning the coach ???
So two thumbs up for Kate, it's clear she's an avid reader of Sixers4guidos.... Ball in Sixers' field now.
